Hello!
It’s been a busy few weeks since The Ultraview Effect came out, and I wanted to share a few updates. First, the audiobook is now available! I’m delighted that people who prefer listening now have another way to experience the book. The narrator is Christina Delaine who is known for her amazing work and has won several AudioFile Earphones Awards, among others. I also recently returned from Hawaii, where I spent time with artist Jon Lomberg, one of the principal creators of the Voyager Golden Record working alongside Carl Sagan. One highlight was visiting his Galaxy Garden, a walkable scale model of the Milky Way made with flowers, fountains, and other garden elements. It was a beautiful and surprisingly powerful way to think about cosmic scale, awe, and our place in the universe. I’m also grateful that The Space Review has published a thoughtful review of The Ultraview Effect. Jeff Foust writes that the book “makes a compelling case that there is something happening” when astronauts experience the universe beyond Earth, and concludes that the ultraview effect “may be just as profound as the overview effect has been on putting our planet into perspective.” And with Father’s Day coming up, I’ll mention that The Ultraview Effect could make a good gift for someone who loves space exploration, astronauts, astronomy, or big questions about humanity’s place in the universe. I’ll be signing copies at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum on Father’s Day, which feels like a very fitting place to celebrate the book. I also had a wonderful launch weekend in Grand Haven, with a talk at C3 Spiritual Community and a signing at The Bookman, where readers were warm, curious, and generous. Thank you so much to everyone who has already bought, read, reviewed, shared, or recommended the book. If you’ve read it and enjoyed it, reviews on Amazon, Goodreads, or wherever you talk about books really do help other readers discover it. If you have any podcasts to recommend or local bookstores you'd like me to contact about a book signing event, please let me know! With gratitude, Deana
